These interviews with Jewish survivors living in Britain have been recorded, digitized and made available online for the first time. These hundreds of testimonies, now available at the British Library site are from two major recording projects made in the periods 1993-1998 and 1987-2000.
With over 1000 hours of recordings, these stories are one of the largest collections in Europe on the Holocaust. Almost all the 289 interviews are accompanied by a summary text and are grouped into themes such as “camp experience”, “children”, “ghetto life” and “resistance” to improve access by researchers. They are also classified by name and location on a Europe map.
